Each PCI Center employs more than 125 staff. Using a person-centered approach, our staff are highly trained to meet each resident’s unique needs. We offer diversity with a cross-section of staff who have different experiences and work together for a common cause.
Behavior Management Services
Our Centers provide individualized positive behavior support and training programs for residents with challenging behaviors. Services are based on behavior assessments and skills assessments provided by a Master’s- or PhD-level certified behavior analyst. Our consultants work as part of the interdisciplinary team to provide behavior support and services within all environments and throughout daily activities.
Each center provides therapeutic services that enhance the residents’ quality of life. Speech therapy, physical therapy and occupational therapy services are provided by licensed therapists. As part of the interdisciplinary team, our therapy consultants work to provide physical, occupational and speech therapy support and services within all environments and throughout daily activities.
Daily Medical Services
Each center is staffed with around-the-clock nursing. Additionally, a Medical Director is on call 24/7 and consultants are available for routine and specialized medical care. Each center has an interdisciplinary approach to health care which includes families, guardians, legal agents and the residents themselves. In addition, meal planning by a registered dietitian, pharmacy and medication services and adaptive equipment are provided, as is transportation to obtain those services.
Life Skills Development
Residents receive instruction and guidance to develop skills that can lead to more rewarding life-experiences. Each individual has a person-centered program plan designed to increase independence through skills training and socialization opportunities. The Centers provide training to enable each person to develop the skills needed to be as independent as possible. From self-care and problem-solving to self-advocacy and community access, residents are provided opportunities to foster independence.
Our Centers offer a robust menu of on-campus indoor and outdoor activities ranging from voluntary church services, dances, access to computers, yoga classes, walking, bicycling and other recreational pursuits. Off-campus, individuals are afforded the opportunity to attend day centers. Pyramid, Inc., the day program most residents choose, builds its programs around the visual and performing arts. Students with the ability and interest make marketable art and perform on stage for community audiences, receiving occasional commissions and fees. Others enjoy the arts at a therapeutic level. Through the arts they learn discipline, cooperation and skills that enhance their everyday lives. We also coordinate educational services with our local school systems for our school-aged residents as well as coordinating services with Vocational Rehabilitation for those interested in employment. We understand the importance of individuals with disabilities being an integral part of the larger community in which they live and routinely provide opportunities to visit a variety of venues ranging from restaurants and malls to sporting and entertainment events and churches of their choice.
