More About Panama City Developmental Center
Panama City Developmental Center (PCDC), located at 1407 Lincoln Drive, is a residential center for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The Center provides around-the-clock medical and direct personal care for all residents so that they can live a fulfilling life. At PCDC, residents learn life skills that help them to become more independent and self-confident. While our mission is to instill a strong sense of empowerment that will allow them to one day live out in the community, residents can stay as long as they wish or need to.
A major attraction for our residents and their families are the numerous large group activities and community outings that we provide. These activities include a movement class in which a certified yoga instructor gets our residents and staff moving to popular music. PCDC holds fun, exciting activities and events to fit every individual desire such as cooking, music and art therapy, dog therapy, surfing classes in the summer, and other exciting activities. Community outings include trips to the famous Shipwreck Island Water Park in Panama City Beach, NFL and college football games, picnics in the park, and the Bay County Fair every October.
PCDC staff strive to provide a nurturing environment that is as similar to their own homes as possible. Each of the four houses feature a kitchen where residents can whip up a tasty snack, living areas that foster recreation and relaxation and a dining area set up to serve family-style meals. Each bedroom is set up for Wi-Fi access and/or cable and residents can relax outside on the patio or ride bikes around the perimeter of the Center.
