Overview and History
These five developmental centers throughout the state of Florida are licensed by the Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA) as Intermediate Care Facilities for the
Developmentally Disabled (ICF/DD), and are owned by Pensacola Care,
Incorporated, a private non-profit corporation established in 1978. The purpose of the corporation is to provide services and to maintain a congregate living facility providing for all needs of its residents.
These developmental centers operate under the philosophy that the individuals they serve are entitled to programs and services designed to meet their individual needs, in order that they may achieve the most productive and rewarding lifestyle possible. Activities and programs are conducted in accordance with the developmental model - the normalization principle - and with an emphasis on the rights and uniqueness of each resident.
Pensacola Care, Inc. developmental centers strive to provide cost-efficient and effective services which are dictated by the individual's needs, and ancillary programs which are viable alternatives for persons with developmental disabilities.
